How Funded Trading Accounts Work: Balances, Rules and Payouts

What does an account balance actually mean? Learn how loss limits, profit shares and payout rules shape a funded-account offer.

By Size team

A funded trading account lets you trade under a provider's rules. The name alone does not tell you whether the account is simulated or live, what you can lose or how payouts work. Check those details before choosing an offer.

At Size, a funded challenge awards a simulated funded account. You first need to win the trading game. After that, eligible profits from trading the account can qualify for real cash payouts under the account rules.

Account size is not a cash prize

Account size is the trading balance shown on the account. It does not tell you how much cash you receive, how much you can withdraw or how much you are allowed to lose.

Size's funded accounts are simulated. The balance itself cannot be withdrawn. To understand what an account offers, read its loss limits, trading conditions and profit share alongside its size.

First win the account. Then trade it.

To enter a funded challenge, choose your simulated account size and pay for one attempt. Compete against skill-rated bots in a 15-minute trading survival game.

Survive eliminations and finish first to win the selected account. Profits and losses in that qualification game affect your score; they do not carry over as account profits you can cash out.

After you win, the account has its own trading and payout rules. Read how the funded challenge works before you choose an account.

To win the standard funded challenge, finish first with a positive final score and meet its challenge rules shown before entry. You can lose your paid entry; a win is not guaranteed.

What do the loss limits mean?

A daily loss limit caps losses during the day defined by the account rules. A total loss limit sets an overall cap. The rules explain how each is calculated.

Check which balance or equity figure the limit uses, whether open positions count, when the day resets and what happens if you hit the limit. A percentage alone does not tell you those details.

Use Size's account risk rules for its operational definitions, and the loss-limit guide for worked conceptual examples.

Profit share is only part of the payout calculation

Your profit share applies to profits that meet the payout rules. It is not a percentage of the full account balance that you can withdraw.

For example, if a hypothetical account has $100 of eligible profit and a 75% trader share, the trader's share would be $75 before any other applicable conditions or deductions. This is an illustration, not a promise of earnings or a statement that every $100 gain is eligible.

How do payouts change your loss limits?

A funded payout removes the gross amount from your account equity. Your profit share determines how much reaches your Size wallet. Today’s daily loss line moves down by the same gross amount, so the room left before that line stays unchanged. The next daily reset uses your updated equity.

Your total-loss buffer can still shrink. Size adjusts the recorded equity high after a payout, but that high cannot fall below the starting balance. If the total loss line stays capped at the starting balance, you have less room between your remaining equity and that line. Check the figures shown on your account before trading again.

Close all positions before requesting a funded payout. Withdrawing the credited money from your Size wallet is a separate step; it does not deduct the same amount from the funded account again. Read the payout rules and loss-limit calculations for the full conditions.

What is the benefit of a funded account?

A funded account gives you the opportunity to trade under a defined set of rules and receive a share of eligible profits. Compare that opportunity with the cost of qualifying and the limits you must follow.

For Size, a useful comparison starts with the cost of one challenge, its difficulty, the simulated account size, allowed loss and eligible profit share. Do not compare offers using balance size alone or assume a larger account guarantees a larger payout.
